Errol, NH – At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2026, Joshua Gavin, 36, of Rochester, NH, was operating an ATV on the 13-Mile Woods Trail in Errol when he crashed and suffered injuries. Gavin was riding last in a group of other operators and described losing control of his ATV in a rough section of the trail after he hit a rut. According to Gavin, he lost control after striking the rut and rolled over his machine.
Because Gavin’s riding companions were ahead of him, they did not know the crash had occurred. Because of heavy OHRV traffic in the area, other riders came upon Gavin and rendered aid. They used a UTV to tow Gavin’s ATV to L.L. Cote in Errol where a call to 911 could be made. A response from Errol Fire Department, Errol Rescue, and Conservation Officer’s began. Gavin was ultimately transported to Androscoggin Valley Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
This crash is still under investigation, however, unreasonable speed for the existing conditions appears to be a factor in this crash. Conservation Officer’s would like to use this incident to remind OHRV operators to always operate in a reasonable and prudent manner for the existing trail conditions and with regard for hazards.
