Dixville, NH – At approximately 12:39 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, Monika Szenk-Selker, 52, of West Granby, CT, was operating an ATV on the Dixville Peaks Trail in Dixville when she suffered an injury during a rollover. While slowly navigating a very steep, downhill and muddy section of rock ledge, Szenk-Selker felt as if her ATV was going to roll over and she subsequently fell from her machine before it did. In doing so she sustained serious injuries when she struck the ground.

Szenk-Selker’s riding companion was nearby when the incident occurred and rendered immediate aid. A call to 911 was made and a response from Colebrook Fire Department, 45th Parallel EMS, and Conservation Officer’s began.

Due to the steep terrain and conditions present in the area where the accident occurred, responders were unable to safely get a rescue machine to her location. Because of this, Szenk-Selker was placed in a litter and rescuers and willing bystanders worked together to carry her up the steep terrain approximately ¼ of a mile to a spot where the Colebrook Fire Department Rescue Argo was able to safely stage the transport. From this location she was transported up the trail to an awaiting 45th Parallel EMS Ambulance that was waiting on Diamond Peak Road. Szenk-Selker was then transported to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Concluding an investigation of the crash, it appears that the technical terrain present where the crash occurred played a primary role in this crash. Conservation Officers would like to use this incident to remind OHRV operators to always consider alternate routes to avoid risks present on challenging trails.
