Harrisville, NH – Shortly before 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 3, 2026, Conservation Officers were notified of an injured trail bike operator. The biker, identified as Mark Tavano, 63, of North Andover, MA, had been traversing the Cobb Hill Trail with a large group of riders when he encountered a small, downed tree. While attempting to navigate the obstacle, Tavano impacted a rock on the other side of the tree, lost his balance, and sustained a serious but non-life-threatening injury to his left leg. Tavano called for assistance. Other members of the group were able to relay the bike back to the trailhead while Tavano awaited help.

Harrisville Fire, Cheshire EMS, and Fish and Game Conservation Officers responded to the scene. Tavano was extricated from the trail by Harrisville Fire on a four-wheeler and transported by Cheshire EMS to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene for further evaluation of his injuries.

Though the operator was equipped with a helmet, pads, proper footwear, and safety gear, New Hampshire Fish and Game reminds all riders to approach technical terrain with caution and thoughtfulness.
