Madison, NH – On Sunday, October 4, 2026, shortly after 12:00 p.m., New Hampshire Fish and Game was notified that a woman had suffered an injury while out walking on a trail near Cooks Pond. The woman was identified as Audrey Epstein, 76, of Silver Lake, NH. Her husband was able to call 911 for help. Rescuers from Madison Fire and Rescue, Action EMS, the Carroll County Sheriffs and NH Fish and Game responded to a nearby trailhead. Epstein’s husband met the initial group and guided them to her. She was placed in a litter and carried about a 1/4 mile back to the trailhead where an ambulance was waiting.
