Berlin, NH – On September 26, 2026, at approximately 11:10 a.m., Berlin Police Department, the Berlin Fire Department, and a New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officer responded to a reported ATV crash on Smitty’s Trail in Berlin.
The operator, identified as 61-year-old Karen Salvatore of Brentwood, NH, was traveling downhill when she lost control of the ATV. The machine veered off the trail and rolled over, resulting in serious injuries.
Salvatore sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Androscoggin Valley Hospital by the Berlin Fire Department.
Salvatore was an experienced rider and was wearing proper safety equipment at the time of the crash. Conservation Officers remind ATV riders to use caution when navigating technical terrain and to always ride within their skill level.
