Campton, NH – At 1:56 p.m. on February 4, 2026, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department was notified of a snowmobile crash that occurred at the snowmobile parking area on Gearty Way in Campton. Snowmobilers at the parking area witnessed the crash and rushed to assist. Additionally, first responders in the adjacent Campton Police Department and Campton–Thornton Fire Rescue Station were able to provide near-immediate aid to Mark Kenney, 66, of Campton, NH, who suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Kenney was transported by Campton–Thornton Fire Rescue Ambulance to Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth for additional evaluation and treatment.

Investigation of the crash showed that Kenney was preparing to load his snowmobile after riding the nearby trails when the crash occurred. At the time, the snowmobile was turned sharply while in reverse on the road surface, which caused it to tip and roll onto its rider. Kenney was wearing a brand-new helmet at the time of the crash.

Conservation Officers want people to enjoy the winter riding opportunities but continue to stress that operating a snowmobile always carries risks. Complacency or inattention, even for a moment, can have serious consequences for yourself or others.
