Pittsburg, NH – On the afternoon of Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at approximately 1:35 p.m., a 28-year-old male from South Carolina, who remains unidentified at this time, was operating his snowmobile on the Corridor Trail 20 in Pittsburg. It appears the operator lost control of his snowmobile while negotiating a downhill left-hand turn. He was subsequently thrown from his machine and sustained injuries in the crash. A 911 call was placed and immediate aid was rendered by his riding companions.
A response from Beecher Falls Fire Department, 45th Parallel EMS and Conservation Officers began. Based on the severity of the injuries reportedly sustained, the DHART helicopter was requested by responding personnel. Beecher Falls Fire Department utilized their rescue snowmobiles and tracked utility terrain vehicle (UTV) to access the remote crash location. The operator was transported from the scene by snowmobile to an awaiting 45th Parallel EMS Ambulance that was staged roadside. He was then transported by ambulance to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook and then ultimately transported by DHART Helicopter to University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington for further evaluation and treatment of his injuries.
This crash is still under investigation. Inexperience and unreasonable speed for existing trail conditions appear to be factors in the crash. Conservation Officer’s would like to remind snowmobile operators to always operate in a reasonable and prudent manner for existing trail conditions and with regard for actual and potential hazards.
