Hooksett, NH – On July 15, 2023, at approximately 3:15 p.m., NH Fish and Game was notified by NH State Police Dispatch of a youth passenger injured in a UTV rollover in Hooksett, NH.
The UTV was operated by Stephen Stanley, 22, of Manchester, NH, with two other passengers, when the operator lost control of the UTV while attempting to make a sharp turn, and rolled over. The UTV landed on the youth passenger, causing serious injuries. Members of the riding party were able to lift the UTV off the youth passenger and call 911 after seeing the severity of the injuries.
The youth passenger was transported by Hooksett Fire Department, utilizing their Utility-Terrain Vehicle, to a nearby road and an awaiting ambulance. The youth passenger was then transported by ambulance to Elliot Hospital in Manchester to be treated for the serious injuries sustained during the crash. It is believed that operator negligence and speed are the leading causes of this incident.
Fish and game personnel were assisted at the scene by Hooksett Police Department, Fire, and EMS.
Fish and Game would like to remind all riders to always wear the appropriate safety equipment, and to always ride within their capabilities on either a designated trail system or property where permission to operate was granted.
