Jackson, NH – On June 16, 2023, at 11:10 a.m., Bartlett-Jackson Ambulance, Jackson Fire Department, Jackson Police Department, Bartlett Fire Department, Lakes Region Search and Rescue Team, Androscoggin Valley Search and Rescue Team, and New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officers responded to Iron Mountain for a hiker reportedly experiencing a medical emergency.

First responders located Robert Carroll of Hampton, NH, approximately .5 miles from the summit of Iron Mountain on the Iron Mountain Trail. Carroll had suffered a medical emergency, however, after rest he was able to walk with assistance to the trailhead. Rescuers were challenged with heavy rains and thunderstorms during the rescue operation. Rescuers reached the trailhead approximately 2:30 p.m.

New Hampshire Fish & Game is a self-funded agency which relies heavily on volunteer rescue groups to complete the mission of search and rescue in the woodlands of the state.
