Albany, NH – On Monday, May 29, 2023, shortly before 8:00 p.m., New Hampshire Fish and Game was notified that a hiker was injured on the Weetamoo Trail on Mt. Chocorua. The hiker was identified as Alyssa Chahed, 18, of Pembroke, MA. Chahed was hiking with two friends when she severely injured her ankle while descending the trail. Chahed attempted to bear weight on her injured ankle but was unable to. The group she was with was able to place a call to 911 for help. Chahed was nearly 2.0 miles from the trailhead.

Along with Conservation Officers, rescuers from Conway Fire and Rescue, Tamworth Fire and Rescue, Madison Fire and Rescue, West Ossipee Fire Department, Effingham Fire Departmen,t and Wolfeboro Fire Department responded along with members of Lakes Region Search and Rescue.

Chahed was treated, placed in a litter, and carried out. She arrived back at the trailhead shortly before 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30 and was driven from the scene by her friends to seek medical attention.
