Pittsburg, NH – On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officer was notified of a snowmobile crash on Corridor Trail 20 in Pittsburg. An emergency response was initiated by Pittsburg Fire and Rescue and 45th Parallel EMS.
The 21-year-old operator was identified as Maxwell Lennon of East Haddam, CT. Lennon was operating a rental snowmobile travelling east on Corridor Trail 20 when he was unable to navigate a downhill left-hand turn in the trail. Lennon was thrown from his snowmobile, landing approximately 20 feet down into a ravine.
He was placed onto a backboard and with the use of the Pittsburg Fire Department snowmobile winch he was hoisted back up the ravine. Lennon was placed on a rescue sled and brought to an awaiting ambulance just a short distance down the trail. From there Lennon was transported to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital (UCVH) in Colebrook by the 45th Parallel Ambulance for treatment of his injuries.
The investigation into the cause of the accident is still ongoing, but inexperience appears to be the leading factor.
