Exeter, NH – On Saturday, October 3, at 2:51 p.m., New Hampshire Fish and Game received a call from New Hampshire State Police Dispatch about an ATV rollover that had occurred on private property in Exeter. It was reported that a juvenile male party was operating an ATV at his residence without supervision when he collided with a small tree, lost control of the machine, and rolled the ATV on its side.

The operator was able to call two friends who arrived on scene, assisted with righting the ATV, and attempted to move the operator. The three individuals realized that more help was necessary when the extent of the male operator’s injuries became apparent. The operator’s father was called, and Exeter Police Officers, along with Exeter Fire and EMS personnel, arrived on scene and carried the juvenile out of the wooded area of the yard and into the awaiting ambulance. A New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officer arrived on scene shortly thereafter.

The operator was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was not wearing a helmet or other safety equipment at the time of the crash. An on-scene investigation suggests that reckless driving was likely the cause of the crash.

New Hampshire Fish and Game would like to remind everyone to use caution when operating OHRVs and to always wear appropriate safety equipment such as helmets and eye protection.
