Dixville, NH – At approximately 5:10 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, Alina Nickerson, 19, of Gorham, ME, was operating a snowmobile as part of a group of four on Primary Trail 134 in Dixville. While operating on this trail, Nickerson failed to navigate a downhill righthand turn and traveled to the outside of the turn. Once off the side of the trail, she struck a large rock and sustained injuries during the impact.

Nickerson’s riding companions were immediately aware of the crash and rendered aid. A 911 call was made from the scene, and a response from Colebrook Fire Department, 45th Parallel EMS, and NH Fish and Game Conservation Officer’s began. Rescue personnel responded to the crash scene via Colebrook Fire Department’s tracked ARGO and tracked ATV. Nickerson was subsequently transported by the tracked ARGO to an awaiting 45th Parallel EMS ambulance that transported her to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

This crash is still under investigation, however unreasonable speed for the existing conditions appears to be a factor in the crash. Nickerson mentioned significant snow dust from the snowmobiles she was following. Conservation Officer’s would like to use this incident to remind snowmobilers to always operate in a reasonable and prudent manner for existing trail conditions and with regard for actual and potential hazards. In all cases, speed shall be controlled so that the operator will be able to avoid colliding with any person, vehicle, or object.
