Livermore, NH – On Thursday, February 5, shortly before 4:00 p.m., New Hampshire Fish and Game was notified that a snowmobile accident had occurred on the North Fork Trail off Sawyer River Road, which is a part of the Bear Notch Trail System. The operator was Catherine Holly, 55, of Charlestown, RI. Holly was riding a rented snow machine. She failed to negotiate a downhill left hand turn in the trail. She left the trail and struck a large tree. Her injuries were initially believed to be severe. There is no cell service in the area, but a call was eventually placed for help.
Along with a Conservation Officer, members of Bartlett Fire Department, Conway Fire and Rescue, and trail crew members responded. The closest access point was over 13 miles from Holly’s location. Her condition improved while rescuers were enroute and she was ultimately assessed by medical personnel and then driven to the trailhead on snowmachine.
