North Conway, NH – On Saturday, August 2, 2025, shortly after 4:30 p.m., New Hampshire Fish and Game was notified that a mountain biker was injured on the Hurricane Trail off of Hurricane Mountain Road. The biker was Andrew Merrihew, 49, of Lebanon, NH. Merrihew had been riding all day with friends and was descending the trail and put his foot down in a section of loose gravel. He suffered a leg injury and attempted to self-rescue, but the injury was too serious for him to make it out without assistance. His friends were able to place a call to 911 for help. Merrihew was just over a mile from the Black Cap Trailhead.

Along with Conservation Officers, members of the North Conway Fire Department and Action Ambulance responded. Rescuers stabilized Merrihew’s injury, placed him in a litter, and carried him up the trail to a waiting UTV, which transported him the rest of the way to the trailhead. He arrived back at the trailhead shortly before 7:00 p.m.
