Pinkham’s Grant, NH – On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at approximately 5:45 p.m., NH Fish and Game was notified of an injured hiker on the Glen Ellis Falls Trail. The calling party reported that a 43-year-old woman had fallen on a section of rocky steps and suffered an injury that prevented her from being able to walk out. Conservation Officers and volunteers from Androscoggin Valley Search and Rescue (AVSAR) responded to the incident.

The hiker, identified as Leva Lase, 43, of Gauja, Latvia, had been hiking down to view the falls with her husband when she fell. A paramedic with AVSAR was the first rescuer on scene and provided a patient assessment. Several other members of AVSAR and a Conservation Officer hiked down with a rescue litter but Lase was able to walk back up the trail with assistance.

Lase and the rescue crew arrived at the parking lot at approximately 7:05 p.m., and Lase was assessed by EMS personnel from Gorham Ambulance. She ultimately refused ambulance transport and instead chose to seek medical treatment on her own.
