Livermore, NH – At around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2026, Conservation Officers were notified of an injured hiker close to the summit of Mount Osceola. The hiker, identified as Gregory Cook, 57, of North Reading, MA, was descending from the summit of Mount Osceola when he slipped on a mucky section of the trail and sustained an injury. The hiker’s family called 911. Other hikers on the trail were able to help stabilize the injury and guide Cook’s family back down to the trailhead while he awaited rescue. Due to the location of the injured party, a call to NH Fish and Game was placed.
Upon notification, Conservation Officers and members of the Pemigewasset Valley Search and Rescue Team responded to the location. Given the rocky mountain terrain, Cook was carried back down to the trailhead where he returned to his family and personal vehicle for transport back to his home. He stated he would seek medical care at an emergency care clinic the following day.
