Bartlett, NH – On Wednesday, June 10, 2024 shortly after 4:00 p.m., New Hampshire Fish and Game was notified that a hiker was injured on the Kearsarge North Trail on Mt. Kearsarge. The hiker was Laura Miller, 20, of North Allerton, U.K. Miller was hiking with a group when she injured her ankle nearly 1.5 miles from the trailhead. Group members applied first aid but the injury did not allow her to make progress on her own.

Along with Conservation Officers members of the Bartlett/Jackson Ambulance Service and Lakes Region Search and Rescue responded. Rescuers placed Miller in a litter and carried her out the trailhead. She arrived back at the trailhead shortly before 7:30 p.m. and was driven from the scene by personal vehicle to the Memorial Hospital in North Conway for treatment.

Lakes Region Search and Rescue is a volunteer search and rescue organization whose members work hard to maintain the skills and equipment necessary to carry out rescues across the state. Anyone can donate to LRSAR through the New Hampshire Outdoor Council at www.nhoutdoorcouncil.org. Donations are fully tax deductible.
