Peterborugh, NH – On Friday, March 27, 2020, at approximately 8:20 p.m., New Hampshire Fish and Game was notified that Peterborough Police were responding to a report of a lost hiker in the area of Hadley Road.

Prior to the arrival of Conservation Officers, Peterborough Police were able to locate the lost female in the woods, in the area of 154 Middle Hancock Road. The female had gone hiking on trails off of Prescott Road in Peterborough around 6:00 p.m. Around 7:00 p.m. she attempted to return home using a short cut that she had taken before, however she became disoriented due to the onset of darkness and took a wrong turn. The female did not have a flashlight, back pack, or extra clothing. Instead, she was relying on her phone which quickly began to die. The woman called 911 for help prior to her phone dying.

New Hampshire Fish and Game would like to remind hikers to be always bring supplies when walking in the woods. The onset of darkness can become disorientating even when hiking on familiar trails near home.
