Gorham, NH – Saturday, September 28, at approximately 3:55 p.m., Fish and Game Conservation Officers were notified of an injured hiker on the Pine Mountain Trail approximately 0.4 of a mile up from the Horton Center Road. The call came in via 911 reporting that a 26-year-old female had fallen and suffered an arm and lower leg injury and it was unknown if she would be able to hike out under her own power.
Conservation Officers and a member of the Androscoggin Valley Search and Rescue team responded, and hiked into the scene. At approximately 5:00 p.m., the rescuers arrived at the injured hiker and started assessing and treating her injuries.
The hiker identified as, Krystal Bunnell, of Milan, NH, had been ascending the trail towards the summit of Pine Mountain when she fell and suffered her injuries. Bunnell had been hiking with a partner when the accident occurred.
After treating Bunnell’s injuries, she was able to successfully walk her down the trail back to the road where the Gorham Ambulance was waiting. Bunnell was transported to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin for treatment of her injuries.
