CONCORD, NH – Registration is now open for the Let’s Go Fishing Program’s fall Introduction to Fly Tying courses to be held on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings in October and November. The classes will be held in Dunbarton and New London and will be taught by master fly tier, author, and Let’s Go Fishing instructor Scott Biron.

The Dunbarton course is a four-evening introduction to be held on the following Tuesdays and Thursdays: October 15, October 17, October 22, and October 24. The two-hour class will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will be held at the Dunbarton Public Library, 1004 School Street, Dunbarton, NH.

The New London program is also a four-evening overview scheduled for the following Tuesdays: October 29, November 12, November 19, and November 26. The classes will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Tracy Memorial Library, 304 Main Street, New London, NH.

Preregistration for these free workshops is required and is first-come, first-served. Participants must commit to attending all sessions. These courses are limited to 12 participants, age 15 and older. All program materials and equipment will be provided, and no experience is necessary.

Participants will learn to tie several fly patterns that are commonly used in New Hampshire waters. They will be introduced to the use of all of the basic tools and materials necessary to tie flies and learn what the flies imitate. Instructors will also discuss insect anatomy and explain why a particular fly is used.

New Hampshire Fish and Game’s “Let’s Go Fishing” program has taught thousands of children and adults to be safe, ethical, and successful anglers. This program is federally funded through the Wildlife & Sport Fish Restoration Program.
