Franconia, NH – On the evening of August 21, 2019 Conservation Officers were notified of an All-Terrain Vehicle accident at the base of Cannon Mountain in Franconia. Personnel from Franconia Fire Department, Franconia Life Squad, Franconia Police Department, and a Conservation Officer responded to the scene.
A 4-year-old from Island Pond, Vermont, was riding a youth model ATV in the parking lot across from Cannon Mountain Ski Lodge when the accident occurred. It appears the youth operator turned the ATV sharply causing it to roll over. The minor was not wearing a helmet or any safety equipment at the time of the accident and was transported by Franconia Life Squad to Littleton Regional Hospital for treatment of a serious but non-life-threatening injury.
Fish and Game would like to remind all riders to wear the appropriate safety equipment including helmets while out riding and also to ride on approved and open trails.
No further details are available this time.
