GORHAM, NH – On the afternoon of Thursday, August 15, 2019, New Hampshire Fish and Game Department Conservation Officers were called by Northeast Snowmobile and ATV Rentals of Gorham and advised of a crash involving one of their rented Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTVs).

Further investigation into the incident revealed that at approximately 12:00 p.m. on August 15, 2019, Mr. Shawn Dennis, 52, of Lynn, Massachusetts, had rolled the machine onto its side while operating on Smitty’s Trail in the town of Gorham. At the time of the crash, Mr. Dennis had his wife and two minor children in the vehicle with him. Following the crash, other riders in the area assisted Mr. Dennis in getting the machine back on its wheels. Mr. Dennis was subsequently able to drive the machine back to Northeast Rentals. After arrival at the rental office, Mr. Dennis took his family by personal vehicle to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin to be checked and treated for minor injuries.

At the time of the crash, all occupants of the involved vehicle were wearing helmets and eye protection. Although the crash is still under investigation, authorities believe that an improper turn was the chief contributing factor in this crash.
