CONCORD, NH – Get primed for fall hunting seasons and more at a series of outdoor adventure talks being offered on Wednesday evenings this fall at the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, NH. The talks begin at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free. No pre-registration is required.
September 4, 2019: Dog Training – Join Wes Reed, the owner of Rise and Shine Retrievers, for an introduction to the tools he uses to transform an eight-week-old puppy into a finished hunting dog. Wes’ retrievers have pursued grouse, sea ducks, geese, and more. With over 30 years of experience training gun dogs, Wes has developed a method that does not employ force fetching or the use of an electronic collar. He will be bringing two of his star pupils, Bella and Joy, to this not-to-be-missed class.
September 11, 2019: Waterfowl Hunting – Take the complexity out of waterfowl hunting with Wes Reed as he shares his experience and tactics for a successful hunt. Learn how weather affects duck movements, what decoys work in what situations, and how to shoot ducks without a boat, decoys, or a dog. Whether chasing early season woodies in a beaver pond or late season mallards on the coast, there’s something for everyone in this seminar, and the opportunity to meet a well-trained Chesapeake Bay retriever—a breed synonymous with waterfowl hunting.
September 18, 2019: Introduction to Hunting White Tail Deer – Dave Priebe, a Hunter Education Instructor and experienced deer hunter, presents need-to-know deer hunting information for beginners. This session is ideal for new and apprentice hunters and offers insight into ethics, fundamental principles of deer hunting, and equipment.
September 25, 2019: Upland Bird Hunting – If you have ever wanted to hunt the “king of gamebirds,” don’t miss this session with Wes Reed as he shares what he’s learned chasing ruffed grouse and woodcock all over New England. If pheasants are more your game, Wes and his dogs have worked at four different shooting clubs over the past 30 years, providing clients with an authentic hunting experience and collecting decades of knowledge along the way. And of course there will be a Rise and Shine lab on hand.
October 2, 2019: Hunting Dominant Bucks – This talk by longtime New Hampshire Hunter Dave Priebe can help increase your odds of harvesting a whitetail buck this fall. Priebe will discuss the phases of male whitetail deer breeding behavior and what they mean for hunters. This talk is recommended for both new and seasoned hunters.
