Whitefield, NH – Shortly before noon on Monday, August 5, Conservation Officers were called upon to assist the Whitefield Police Department with a search for a missing man suffering from dementia who had wandered away from his residence on View Street at approximately 11:45 AM.
Whitefield officers had done a cursory search of the area and had received assistance from a citizen, utilizing an aerial drone to search the area from above, with no clues as to the whereabouts of Bernard Thibeault, 75, of Whitefield.
As the scope of the search widened, a search party consisting of a Whitefield Police Sergeant and a NH Fish and Game Conservation Officer K-9 team located Thibeault lying on the ground in thick vegetation approximately 500 feet from his residence at approximately 2:25 PM.
Thibeault’s clothing had become entangled in barbed wire and he suffered several minor injuries as a result of attempting to free himself. He was evaluated by Whitefield Ambulance personnel and was subsequently transported to the hospital by family members for treatment of cuts and abrasions.
