Concord, NH – To better serve the residents and visitors of the Granite State, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department will begin a full refurbishment of the Downing’s Landing boat ramp on Lake Winnipesaukee in August. As a result, the facility will close on Monday, August 5.
The Downing’s Landing refurbishment project will be completed in two phases. Phase I will use a temporary coffer dam to upgrade the single-lane ramp to a double-lane ramp with a central seasonal dock. This year’s closure is expected to last through Columbus Day, and will curtail all access to Lake Winnipesaukee associated with the property. Phase II will be completed in 2020.
From August 5 through the completion of Phase I this fall there will be no opportunity for shorebank access, launching or retrieving any type of water craft, or shoreline fishing to ensure a safe and effective work site. Please check the project’s status using the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department’s Statewide Public Boat Access Program’s web page at www.fishnh.com/access.
The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department’s Statewide Public Boat Access Program is funded through boat registration fees, which are combined as match dollars with federal Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration funds to facilitate boat access opportunities in the state. Fish and Game’s Facilities and Lands Division acquires land for public water access sites, refurbishes existing sites, and builds new public boat access areas.
