Stratford, NH – Shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, a man sustained serious injuries when he crashed the ATV he was operating. Richard Converse, 18, of Stratford, NH, was traveling south on Bordeau Road when the incident occurred. Converse lost control of his ATV when he passed a friend he was riding with on a straight section of the road. During this loss of control, he drove into the ditch and struck a boulder, which threw him from his ATV. His friend who was riding with him immediately rushed to his aid and placed a call to 911.

Upon receiving word of the incident, NH State Police Troopers, Groveton Ambulance Service, Stratford Fire Department, and a Conservation Officer responded to the scene of the crash. First responders provided aid to Converse and transported him away from the scene by ambulance. Due to the nature of the injury, he was transported to Weeks Memorial Hospital in Lancaster for further evaluation and treatment.

The operator was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and speed is considered to be the primary cause of the crash.
