CONCORD, NH – Michael Eastman has been selected to fill the Administrative Captain’s position for the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department’s Law Enforcement Division. In his new role, Eastman will be in charge of off-highway recreational vehicle (OHRV) enforcement and safety education, including oversight of training for enforcement patrol procedures and tactics, as well as dealing with legislation related to the rapid growth of OHRV activity in New Hampshire. Eastman will serve as the Department’s link to the Emergency Operations Center at the Office of Emergency Management, and will coordinate activities of the field force, in cooperation with other law enforcement personnel, in addressing emergencies such as drownings, lost persons, hunting accidents, forest fires, and floods.
A 17-year veteran of NH Fish and Game, Eastman patrolled in the Gilford, Laconia, and Belmont area for twelve years before being transferred to the seacoast of New Hampshire. There, Eastman rose to the District 6 Lieutenant’s position and Chief of District 6 Chief in 2013.

We are very fortunate to have an Officer with Michael’s abilities and expertise to assist us with promoting the Department’s initiatives.”
Eastman earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Unity College in 1998. During his years with the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, Eastman has consistently demonstrated an innate ability to locate and apprehend wildlife violators and other criminals, and in 2008 he earned the “Looking Beyond the Traffic Stop” award presented by the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council. Eastman also received the Lifesaving Congressional Award in 2007 for his methodical response which saved the life of an emotionally distraught individual. Eastman has served as a valued member of the Advanced Search and Rescue Team, a member of the New Hampshire Fish and Game Dive Team, and as a Field Training Officer. In 2008, Eastman was selected to receive the prestigious Shikar-Safari International Wildlife Officer of the Year Award, honoring his commitment and dedication to conservation law enforcement.
