Jaffrey, NH – On July 11, 2019 at 2:00 pm, Monadnock State Park staff and New Hampshire Fish and Game responded to a call for an injured hiker near the summit of Mount Monadnock. Theresa Daigle, 38, of Apex, North Carolina, was descending from the summit of the mountain when she slipped and sustained a leg injury. Conservation Officers from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department and Monadnock Park Staff (Department of Natural and Cultural Resources) were joined by a few hiker/volunteers who carried Daigle from where she fell on the White Dot Trail to the bottom of the mountain. Members of the rescue party faced heavy rains, treacherously slippery rock conditions, and steep angles on their descent of the White Arrow Trail to the awaiting ambulance.
Daigle was transported to Monadnock Community Hospital by Jaffrey Rindge Memorial Ambulance for treatment of her injuries. Fortunately, she was hiking with family who were able to call for assistance and kept her warm and as comfortable as possible until first responders could arrive.
