Nottingham, NH – At approximately 3:30 PM on Monday July 8, 2019, Daniel Elliot, 49, of Nottingham, NH, was operating a Polaris Sportsman ATV on Water Street near his home. While operating the machine, Elliot lost control and collided with a drainage pipe on the side of the road, which caused the ATV to roll over. Elliot was not wearing a helmet and received severe head injuries as a result of the crash.

Nearby neighbors found Elliot after the crash and contacted emergency services. Nottingham Police, Northwood EMS, and a NH Fish and Game Conservation Officer responded. Elliot was Air lifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he remains in critical condition.

The accident is still under investigation but speed appears to the primary cause.

New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officers want to remind OHRV enthusiasts to always wear a helmet and operate at a speed within your riding capabilities.
