Thornton, NH – At 5:45 pm on July 6, 2019, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department was notified of an injured hiker on Dickey Mountain in Thornton, NH. A rescue operation was already underway to help Thomas Boland, 56, of Old Saybrook, CT, who had sustained a non-life-threatening injury while descending Dickey Mountain as he hiked the Welch and Dickey Loop Trail. Rescuers provided assistance from the Campton-Thornton Fire Rescue, Waterville Valley Department of Public Safety, Plymouth Fire-Rescue, Holderness Fire Department, Ashland Fire Department, Lakes Region Search and Rescue Team, and Conservation Officers from the NH Fish and Game Department. The injured hiker was carried in a litter down the trail and the entire rescue party returned to the trailhead shortly before 8:30 pm.
