Rochester, NH – At approximately 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, Brian Sullivan, 44, of Rochester, NH, was operating a Honda Sportsman ATV in a pasture behind the Myhre Equine Clinic in Rochester where he worked. Shortly before the incident, he had made some repairs to the ATV and was taking it out for a test drive to be sure it worked properly. The morning dew made the grass slippery and when Sullivan made a turn he lost control of the machine, rolling it over and injuring himself.
Upon seeing the crash, Sullivan’s coworkers rushed to his aid. A 911 call was made shortly thereafter and a response from Rochester Police, Rochester EMS and NH Fish and Game Conservation Officers began. Sullivan was transported to Frisbee Memorial Hospital in Rochester by the Rochester EMS ambulance where he was treated for his injuries.
Officials believe that slippery conditions and excessive speed caused the crash. The NH Fish and Game Department would like to remind everyone to be mindful of outdoor conditions when riding and adjust their speed accordingly.
