DURHAM, NH – The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department will hold a public hearing on a proposed marine aquaculture license application on Tuesday, June 4, at 7:00 p.m. at the Urban Forestry Center, 45 Elwyn Road, Portsmouth, NH. The public is welcome to attend and to offer comments on the proposed aquaculture plans.
Michael Chambers, of the University of New Hampshire, and Blue Water Fisheries will be heard on their proposed polyculture operation. Phase one of operations (2019-2022), 11.75 acres, will involve float caged rainbow trout and blue mussels. Phase two of operations (2020-2022), 124 acres, will involve a submerged macroalgae grid and two rainbow trout cages, one a float cage and the other a submersible cage. The proposed locations are situated 1.5 miles offshore of the Isle of Shoals at a depth of approximately 170 feet.

Written comments on the proposed license may be submitted up until 4:00 p.m. on June 18, 2019.
