Berlin, NH – Fish and Game Conservation Officers located the body of a missing Berlin man at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Monday afternoon. Officials say the body was located by Conservation Officers who were searching along the Dead River near the Notre Dame Arena. The victim, identified as Robert Valliere, 68, had been reported missing the night before by his family when he went out for a walk and failed to return. A search by Berlin police officers, a State Police K-9 unit, and family and friends of Valliere was undertaken through the night with no success.

Fish and Game was notified in the morning and a thorough search of the areas that Valliere was known to frequent was conducted. Valliere was suffering from the early onset of dementia, but was still physically active and enjoyed going on walks. He had spoken of wanting to go fishing prior to his disappearance.

Fish and Game was assisted by Berlin Police and Berlin Fire Department in the recovery of the body. It is too soon to determine the cause of death and the body was transported to the States Medical Examiner’s office in Concord for an autopsy.
