CONCORD, NH — Registration is open for a one-day course for women who want to develop the skills necessary to correctly and safely fire and care for a shotgun. The New Hampshire Becoming an Outdoors Woman Program (BOW) presents “Introduction to Shotgun and Wing Shooting,” on June 8, 2019, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Owl Brook Hunter Education Center, Holderness, NH.
Taught by BOW and Hunter Education instructors, this workshop will cover action types, safe handling, correct ammunition, proper maintenance, and storage. Live shooting opportunities will be included in the day’s events. Students will learn basic shooting form and techniques on moving targets, which will be applied to the art of upland bird and wing shooting. The class is for anyone who is new to bird hunting and is looking to grow the necessary skills for success in the fall upland bird and waterfowl hunting seasons.
To sign up, go to nhbow.com, where you will be directed to the event registration page. After registering online, print, fill out, and mail in all the forms with payment by May 17, 2019.
The workshop fee of $70 is due with registration and includes instruction, program materials, use of some equipment, and lunch. Registration is limited to 16 participants. A hunting license is not required during scheduled class time.
“Beyond BOW” workshops are in-depth sessions designed to expand on the offerings of the traditional Becoming an Outdoors Woman programs, helping women gain the skills needed to participate in outdoor activities on their own.
The New Hampshire Becoming an Outdoors Woman program is co-sponsored by the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department (www.wildnh.com) and the New Hampshire Wildlife Federation (www.nhwf.org).
