Millsfield, NH – On the morning of Monday, April 1, a man sustained serious injuries after crashing the snowmobile he was operating on Millsfield Pond Road.
Aaron Pitts, 21, of Norton, MA struck a portion of a gate after losing control of his snowmobile due to mechanical failure while navigating a turn. As a result of colliding with the gate, Pitts was thrown from his snowmobile and walked back to the location of his parked vehicle. Pitts and a member of his riding party then drove to locate cell service where they placed a call to 911.
Upon receiving word of the crash, Errol Fire and Rescue responded to Pitts’ location on Route 16 and the scene of the crash. Due to the severity of his injury, Pitts was transported to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin for further evaluation and treatment, where he was met by a Conservation Officer.
The operator was wearing a helmet; mechanical failure of the snowmobile is considered the primary cause of the crash.
