PITTSBURG, NH — At approximately 1:08 PM, rescue personnel and law enforcement officials responded to a snowmobile crash resulting in injuries to a female operator on North Main Street.  Jamie Maggiore, 36, of Lynnfield, MA was ejected from a rented snowmobile after striking a large snowbank on the edge of the roadway while attempting to navigate the machine across the pavement to access a trail. The snowmobile launched over the snowbank, went down a steep embankment and struck a tree. Maggiore was thrown from the machine, impacting a separate tree with her body. Maggiore was helped back up to the road and subsequently into a nearby local business where a 911 call was placed. Members of Pittsburg Fire and Rescue, Pittsburg Police Department and a NH Fish and Game Conservation Officer assisted at the scene. Maggiore was stabilized and transported by 45th Parallel EMS ambulance to a landing zone at Murphy Dam Road, where she was subsequently transferred to a Lifeflight of Maine helicopter and airlifted to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine for treatment of what appeared to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Operator inexperience appears to be the primary factor leading to the crash, and neither speed nor alcohol played roles in the incident. Maggiore was wearing a full-faced helmet and eye protection, which likely prevented further injury.
