FRANCONIA, NH – On Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 12:35 PM Fish and Game was alerted to an injured backcountry skier on Mount Lincoln. A cell call to 911 reported that a 27-year-old male had injured himself while skiing down Lincoln’s Throat on Mount Lincoln. Injuries prevented the
skier from continuing on his own. A companion was able to help him self-rescue some of the route until members of Pemi Valley Search and Rescue Team and members of Fish and Game’s Advanced Search and Rescue Team arrived on scene at 4:20 PM. The injured skier was packaged in a rescue litter and slid out to the trailhead where everyone arrived at 5:45 PM.

The injured skier was identified as 27-year-old Patrick Lweiler of Portsmouth, NH. Mr. Lweiler’s injuries were not life threatening and his companion was able to drive him from the trailhead for further medical evaluation.
