GORHAM, NH – Fish and Game Conservation Officers were alerted to a report of a snowmobile crash on Trail Corridor 12 at approximately 1:45 PM. Matthew Pelrine, 27, of Tewskbury Massachusetts, was operating a snowmobile when he failed to stop at a driveway crossing and struck a car. The car was pulling into the driveway as Pelrine was riding down the trail.
Pelrine was thrown from the machine and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Both the snowmobile and the vehicle were damaged as a result of the crash. Gorham Fire Department, Gorham Police Department along with Conservation Officers responded to the call. Gorham Fire Department transported Pelrine from the scene to Androscoggin Valley Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Conservation Officers attribute the crash to inattention and failure to stop at a crossing. Pelrine received a ticket for failing to stop at a crossing.
COLEBROOK, NH – Fish and Game Conservation Officers responded to a single snowmobile crash on Trail Corridor 3A at approximately 3:00 PM. Fifty-year-old Joseph Aitken, of Middlefield, Connecticut, failed to keep control of his machine after going over a bridge. Aitken was thrown from the machine and sustained serious injuries when his body struck a tree. Colebrook Fire Department, Colebrook Police Department, a Conservation Officer, and 45th Parallel EMS responded to the call. Aitken was transported to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook and was immediately transferred into a waiting Lifeflight of Maine helicopter. He was flown to Central Maine Medical Center for further treatment. Speed was the leading cause of the crash and a charge of such is pending.
