Bethlehem – On Sunday February 17, at 3:40 p.m., New Hampshire Fish & Game Conservation Officers were notified of a snowmobile accident in the town of Bethlehem. Responding Officers were notified that CPR was in progress. Twin Mountain Fire and Rescue and Bethlehem Police responded and staged along route 3 in Bethlehem. Twin Mountain Fire used their rescue ATV and trailer to access the scene and Conservation Officers responded in to the scene on snowmobiles.
Once on the scene it was determine that the situation was not an accident, but a medical emergency. John Doherty, 67 of Bethlehem had been snowmobiling with family when he stopped and got off his snowmobile to assist with a snowmobile stuck on an icy hill. While in the trail Doherty experienced a medical emergency and collapsed. CPR was performed on the scene by family and passing snowmobilers until first responders arrived. Unfortunately, Doherty did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene.
