Educators Reminded to Schedule Spring Classroom Wildlife Program

CONCORD, NH — Teachers who want to introduce their students in grades 3-6 to New Hampshire’s wildlife resources, or reinforce wildlife-related lessons they have learned, have until February 28, 2019 to request spring Wonders of Wildlife presentations by trained New Hampshire Fish and Game Department volunteer docents. There is no charge for the programs.

Wonders of Wildlife (WOW) is a series of active educational programs presented in the classroom. Fish and Game WOW docents travel to New Hampshire schools to present one of four interactive programs for grades 3-6:

• Habits and habitats
• Endangered species
• Pond ecology
• Wetlands

Any teacher who has not already scheduled a WOW presentation this school year may schedule a session for their students. To download a print-and-mail application, go to www.wildnh.com/education/wonders-of-wildlife.html and select the “Program Request Form.”

“This program can be a great resource to support your classroom teaching about wildlife and the environment,” said program coordinator Mary Goodyear, a Fish and Game wildlife educator. “Our enthusiastic WOW volunteer docents are eager to share their knowledge of the outdoors and help build conservation awareness in our youth.”

Each school year, some 30 volunteer Fish and Game WOW docents present more than 100 programs to students statewide.
